Multani Pottery
As the name suggests, Multani Pottery emanates from Multan, the “City of Saints,” in the Southern Punjab province of Pakistan. Multan is Pakistan’s oldest centre of art and craftsmanship, shaped over centuries by rich Persian, Central Asian and South Asian influences. Among its most distinctive traditions is Multani Blue Pottery, celebrated for its mesmerising cobalt-blue tones, intricate motifs and timeless beauty. Known locally as “Kashi,” this centuries-old craft is brought to life by skilled artisans using traditional techniques, hand-painted designs and vibrant mineral-based colours. Its characteristic shades of blue, turquoise and white, often inspired by nature and Islamic geometry, give each piece its unmistakable identity.
Made entirely by hand, no two pieces are ever quite alike. Subtle variations in shape, brushwork, colour and form are not imperfections, but beautiful reminders of the human hands and generations of skill behind each creation. Each piece is imperfectly perfect, carrying its own character and story.
Passed down through generations, Multani Kashi is more than a craft—it is a living piece of Pakistan’s cultural heritage, keeping alive the artistry, patience and traditions of the families who have practised this remarkable craft for centuries.
